Salary/Position Classification

  • $55,000+ dependent on experience, annual, Exempt
  • 40 hours per week
  • This position will work onsite the Grand Forks, ND campus.

Purpose of Position

This role supports UND’s Web Development team in building and maintaining content management systems and database-driven web applications. The focus is on front-end development, user experience, accessibility, and performance optimization across UND’s digital platforms.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Web Development (45%): Code, maintain, and enhance UND’s web applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Git, and frameworks like Node.js and Gulp.
  • UI/UX & Framework Design (20%): Design accessible, user-friendly interfaces aligned with UND branding and SEO best practices.
  • CMS Development (20%): Support and enhance CMS platforms (e.g., Omni CMS, WordPress), including custom features and user support.
  • Technology Research (10%): Explore and implement new tools, frameworks, and AI technologies to improve workflows.
  • Other Duties (5%): Participate in meetings, maintain documentation, and uphold compliance standards (FERPA, HIPAA, PCI).

Required Competencies

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, CMS platforms, and generative AI tools
  • Ability to use mockup concepts and transform them into fully functional websites and applications.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 1 years of directly related experience OR an associate’s degree plus 3 years of directly related experience or equivalent (6 years) related work experience relevant student and internship employment may be considered in addition to full time experience.
  • 2 years experience in web development.
  • Experience with best practices for web design and understanding of semantic HTML code, user-centered design, usability, and accessibility (W3C and 508).
  • Experience creating and maintaining documentation.
  • Experience and proficiency with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript web design languages.
  • Experience with content management system (CMS) platforms such as Omni CMS, WordPress, or Drupal.
  • Experience leveraging generative AI technologies (e.g., Github, Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar tools) to enhance development workflows, improve code quality, automate documentation, or support UI/UX design.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience in higher education or secure environments (HIPAA, FERPA, PCI)
  • Skills in Java, PHP, XML, jQuery, Ajax, XSL
  • Familiarity with analytics tools, responsive design, and version control systems
