Salary/Position Classification

  • $1052.89 monthly per 3 credit course, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
  • 8.01 hours per week
  • This position will work onsite at UND Grand Forks, ND campus

Purpose of Position

The Department of History and American Studies at the University of North Dakota seeks a part-time instructor to teach one section of the US military History course in person on campus to begin January 1, 2027.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will contribute to the History program through teaching introductory United States history (History 210: United States Military History).  

Required Competencies

  • Demonstrated knowledge of United States military history.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and students
  • Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside the Department of History & American Indian Studies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to teach, inspire, and mentor students.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree in history or relevant field by August 15, 2026
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching at the undergraduate level
  • Experience or knowledge of history pedagogy
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence
