Purpose of Position

The Recruiting Coordinator works collaboratively with other student service professionals in NCoBPA and across the campus to recruit and retain students in the business, political science and public administration programs at UND. The Coordinator will promote UND NCoBPA programs to K-12 and community college students and the general public. The position is primarily responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating the NCoBPA outreach and recruiting program. This position will also work closely with UND’s Admissions Representatives to support the Admissions recruitment mission and the overall mission of the University. The messages conveyed and strategies employed will be consistent with an overall strategic student recruitment plan.

The purpose of the Advisor position is to provide undergraduate academic advisement for all NCoBPA students (majors and minors). This position will work very closely with our current students on a drop-in basis and scheduled meetings. Primary duties include all advising-related matters for current and potential students and responsibility for graduation audits. This person will utilize campus connection, degree map, perceptive content, and Hawk Central. Other duties include assisting with the advisor portion of the summer orientation program and participate in graduation ceremonies

Duties & Responsibilities

Nistler Recruiting Coordinator

  • Lead NCoBPA in the planning and coordination of all UND NCoBPA recruiting events
  • Identify, create, manage, and coordinate events that promote UND NCoBPA to K-12 audiences, community college students, Grand Forks and the surrounding region throughout the year
  • Ability to travel and work a varied schedule with flexible evening and weekend hours as needed
  • Work with University Analytics and Planning (UAP) and Admissions to maintain accurate records of NCoBPA prospective students in the admission funnel in support of NCoBPA strategic enrollment planning
  • Be the liaison between UND Admissions and the NCoBPA regarding campus and college specific recruitment events (including, but not limited to, Fall Open House, Saturday Open House, and Admitted Student Day)
  • Determine strategic recruiting events and coordinate participation of alumni, students, faculty, and other staff, as appropriate, to maximize the positive impact of the activity on prospective NCoBPA students
  • Work with the External Relations Director to develop methods and materials, utilizing all media types, to assist with recruiting efforts
  • Meet regularly with NCoBPA Associate Dean (or appointee) to give updates on events that would include the Dean and departments/schools
  • Create and maintain a network of professional contacts to support the outreach goals of UND NCoBPA 

General Academic Advisor

  • Serve as an academic advisor to all business students
  • Meet with students and be available for drop-ins in the NCoBPA Advising Center
  • Audit student records for completion of major requirements, prepare student class schedules, and assist with registration processes
  • Communicate university policies and procedures to students as needed
  • Respond to telephone and email inquiries regarding the business program and procedures
  • Assist with summer orientation program
  • Assist at career fairs
  • Provide guidance for studying abroad
  • Attend and participate in college and campus-wide advising events
  • Represent college at commencement ceremonies

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience with basic software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
