  • $1,333.33 ($4,000 total for length of position) monthly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)

Purpose of Position

The NDGS Resident Assistant (RA) position is approximately a 40-hour-per-week position. Resident assistants support the mission of the North Dakota Governor’s School (NDGS) by facilitating a positive living and learning community in the residence halls.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Active time involves, but is not limited to, the following: 
    • Working directly with Student Scholars (15-17 yrs) 
    • Community development activities • Event planning and implementation 
    • Mail duty—delivering mail to NDGS student scholars 
    • Staff meetings • On-going training and staff development 
    • Meetings with NDGS Coordinator • Duty rounds—double checking halls after lights out 
    • Other duties as assigned—driving to an event in University van, travel on weekend with students and Program Director - (Essential)

Minimum Requirements

  • Enrolled UND Student
  • Experience working with adolescents and young adults (8 yr to 22 year). This may include coaching, summer camp counselor, paraprofessionals, etc.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • University RA prior experience or summer counselor experience
    Internships involving adolescents, after school programming, or student teacher education field experiences
