Maintenance Assistant

Salary/Position Classification

  • $14.00 hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
  • 10-20 hours per week and 40 hours in the summer break
  • 100% Remote Work Availability: No
  • Hybrid Work Availability (requires some time on campus): No

Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND under-grad students are eligible to be hired in this position.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform relocation and setup of office furniture and equipment.
  • Perform repairs or assist in performance of more difficult repairs to building, such as door closures, hinges, weather stripping, painting and plumbing.
  • Performs mowing/snow removal and yard work, operating tractors, mowers and snowblower; and performs maintenance on this equipment.
  • Assist in overhauling and installing motors, pumps, and bearing; performs pressure differential checks in HVAC systems, installs electrical conduit to assist electrician and HVAC trades works.

Required Competencies

  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Strong oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to work independently and part of a team

Minimum Requirements

  • Able to stand 3-4 hours at a time
  • Can move 45-50 pounds
  • The ability to understand and complete required training for the job classification.
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Competent in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Interior/exterior painting experience.
