Purpose of Position

Are you passionate about storytelling, social media, and making an impact through communication? We’re looking for a creative and motivated Marketing and Communications Intern to join our team and support the development and execution of engaging content across a variety of platforms.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with staff across our department and programs to help expand and enhance our communication efforts—both strategically and creatively. From social media and digital outreach to written content and visual storytelling, you’ll play an active role in shaping how we connect with our audiences.

This internship is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in communication strategy, marketing, and digital tools. You’ll build real-world skills in content creation, project planning, and team collaboration that will set you up for future success in your career.

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create and curate compelling content across a variety of platforms—including publications, press releases, website updates, social media, email campaigns, and other marketing materials—to highlight the department’s programs, services, and successes.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the organization’s mission, values, and strategies, staying informed on relevant updates and initiatives to ensure communications remain aligned and accurate.
  • Support brand consistency by helping implement branding guidelines and ensuring all content is clear, high-quality, and error-free.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to brainstorm and develop engaging content ideas that align with departmental goals and support ongoing brand and marketing initiatives.
  • Contribute to the planning, execution, and analysis of communication campaigns, using performance data to assess effectiveness and suggest improvements.
  • Partner with leadership and staff to design and refine a strategic communications approach that resonates with key audiences.
  • Assist in managing and monitoring social media platforms, measuring performance metrics and identifying ways to boost reach, engagement, and impact.
  • Stay informed on current trends, tools, and best practices in digital communication and social media to bring fresh ideas to the team.

Minimum Requirements

  • • Currently enrolled UND student, at least at sophomore status
    • Major field of study in a business, communications, or graphic design-related field
    • Related experience via work, internship, club or organization participation
    • Graduating no earlier than May 2026
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud software
    • Experience with audience and buyer persona research
    • Portfolio of writing and social media samples for review
    • Experience with Constant Contact, Zoom and video editing
