Purpose of Position

The Marketing Department in the Nistler College of Business and Public Administration (NCoBPA) invites applications for a full time Lecturer in Marketing with primary responsibilities in teaching and service/outreach. The NCoBPA is accredited by AACSB and is the largest school of business in North Dakota and serves an average of 1425 undergraduate students and 350 graduate students per year. The Marketing Department boasts a growing marketing major (235 students enrolled on campus, 30 enrolled online), and a growing professional sales minor (33 enrolled). This position is on a promotion (not tenure) track. The successful candidate will become an integral part of the growing Marketing major and professional sales minor. Duties include a teaching course load of 8 courses per academic year (4 in the fall semester, 4 in the spring semester), quality professional service appropriate to the position and workload, and service to the Department, College, and University as well as marketing-related service to professional communities. This position will cover critical courses such as marketing foundations; digital marketing; integrated marketing communications; international marketing; and/or sales areas. The successful candidate should contribute to the department’s initiatives. The candidate’s contributions should align with the missions and strategic plans of the university, college, and department.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teaching
    • Teaching in the following areas: Marketing Foundations; Digital Marketing, Integrated Marketing Communications, Marketing Strategy; International Marketing, and other core required and elective marketing and sales areas. 
  •  Service
    • Service to the department, college, and university and maintain Professional Qualifications as per AACSB and College guidelines. 

Required Competencies

  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate with students, coworkers, and various external groups.
  • Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside of the Marketing department.

Minimum Requirements

  • MBA from an AACSB Accredited Program
  • Evidence of quality in undergraduate and/or graduate teaching marketing foundations, marketing strategy, consumer behavior, and/or other marketing and sales courses
  • Professional experience which is current and substantial in terms of duration and level of responsibility, and clearly linked to the field of marketing and or sales.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of experiential, high impact learning practices and/or active learning.
  • Professional experience working in Marketing and/or sales areas.
  • Professional service engagement in marketing or sales areas (e.g., consulting, board of directors, etc.).
