Salary/Position Classification

  • $45,000 - $49,350 annual, Exempt
  • 40 hours per week
  • This position will work onsite our Grand Forks, ND campus.

Purpose of Position

The Events & Marketing Coordinator will play a pivotal role in coordinating events and marketing for the UND College of Engineering and Mines. They will support all aspects of event planning, produce digital and print pieces, the college’s social media platforms, and departmental communications in coordination with the Director of Alumni, Corporate & Public Relations, and Graphic Design Specialist.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Marketing & Graphic Design 
    • Work on a variety of graphic design projects, including digital bulletin boards, electronic media, posters, flyers, event programs, recruitment pieces, business development sales materials, and other design projects for the College of Engineering and Mines.
    • Ensure all marketing materials adhere to the UND and UND College of Engineering and Mines’ branding guidelines.
    • Edit/Produce copy for college publications, as needed.
    • Work independently on selected/prioritized promotional materials projects. 
    • Work in coordination with the Graphic Design Specialist 
  • Event Assistance
    • Manage event teams by coordinating with vendors and campus partners to develop, manage, and follow event timelines, contracts, systems, and processes.
    • Develop detailed project plans for events, including timelines, budgets, resources, and risk management strategies.
    • Oversee and manage budgets, and registrations, and initiate attendee contact as required. 
    • Evaluate events and gather feedback to expand, develop, and improve future events.
    • Provide direct assistance and front-line support for UND Engineering events before, during, and after the event. 
    • Support projects with plan development and execution when required with the Director of Alumni, Corporate & Public Relations
  • Social Media Manager
    • Maintain the UND College of Engineering and Mines’ social media presence across multiple platforms and on the college specific large events or projects under the direction of the Graphic Design Specialist and Director of Alumni, Corporate & Public Relations
    • Develop and produce relevant content and social media campaigns for the Business Development, Professional Development, Public Relations, Departments, and Alumni teams within the CEM. 
    • Ensure all platforms are updated and maintained consistently and appropriately. • Interact with prospective students, alumni, and other stakeholders via the college’s social media accounts

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, event management, graphic design, or related field, or Associate’s degree and 3 years of related experience in the field, or 5 years of related experience in the field.
  • Experience working in communications, events, marketing, advertising, and/or public relations areas.
  • Experience planning and executing events.
  • Demonstrated experience with professional use of social media platforms including Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter).
  • Demonstrated experience with graphic design.
  • Proficient in utilizing the Adobe Creative Suite software to include working with InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in developing social media strategies.
  • Proficient in utilizing the Adobe Creative Suite software, including InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Experience with Qualtrics, WordPress, and/or OmniUpdate.Experience working in higher education.
  • Experience with photography and photo editing.Experience with UND Brand Standards and Best Practices.
