  • $47,000 - $53,730 annual, Exempt
  • 40 hours per week

Purpose of Position

This purpose of the Director of Player Personnel & Office Operations - Men's Hockey position is to assist the Men’s Hockey coaching staff with recruiting, events, planning and administrative tasks while adhering to all NCHC and NCAA compliance guidelines. This position will be responsible for planning events and functions, travel arrangements and communication with coaches, student-athletes, families, and alumni. This position will also help market and sell the Men’s Hockey program to potential recruits through correspondence and other recruiting efforts. Must have a commitment to compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations. Must provide support and encouragement and ensure the safety and well-being of the student-athletes.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate recruiting activity
    • Assist with the process of official and unofficial prospective student-athlete (PSA) visits, including, but not limited to, booking of all travel, local reservations, and campus reservations.
    • Manage and maintain all recruiting social media activities and engagement, in conjunction and consultation with UND Athletics internal and external operations.
    • Organize and maintain database files of recruits and student-athletes.
    • Assist with the process of admitting student-athletes to UND through housing, admissions, NCAA/Clearinghouse.
    • Coordinate and maintain compliance with NCAA compliance logs, PSA lists, vehicle logs, CARA logs.
    • Collect, organize, and mail information sent to recruits and ensure it is in a presentable manner.
    • Assist in the business operations of recruiting including, but not limited to, requesting host money, processing travel & expense reports, and management of all purchasing card receipts.
    • Breakdown potential recruit film and maintain recruiting film library.
    • Manage Scholarship activity for present and future years.
    • Administrate over NLI Process.
    • Liaise with external recruiting constituents, as assigned.
  • Communication, travel and social media 
    • Organize meetings with UND Athletics and outside businesses.
    • Communicate with parents during the season to coordinate tickets and ice level access.
    • Coordinate travel accommodations for internal & external constituents when traveling with the team during the regular season & postseason.
    • Communicate with alumni during the season to keep them updated on current statistics and player information, while serving as the point of contact for all hockey alumni.
    • Communicate ticket request information to appropriate Ralph Engelstad Arena personnel.
    • Maintain, communicate, and compile Men’s Hockey schedule.
    • Schedule competitions; prepare information for game contracts and NCAA/UND forms regarding schedules.
    • Communicate proper information for tickets/ice level access to appropriate REA event personnel.
    • Plan, coordinate, and inform the proper audience of Parent’s Night, Senior Night, Player events and UND Alumni events that happen throughout the year.
    • Coordinate and enhance social media platforms.
    • Research and compare information to find the best flights, vehicle rentals, and hotels.
    • Book and plan all travel arrangements for the coaches.
    • Other communication & travel duties as assigned by Head Men’s Hockey Coach. 
  • Administrative & office operations
    • Greet all individuals as they enter the office & answer any applicable questions they may have.
    • Answer the phone, taking messages if necessary and relay them to appropriate staff member.
    • Order new products for office area as needed.
    • Ship and collect all mail on a daily basis.
    • Statement of account is reviewed on a weekly basis, with changes made as appropriate.
    • All receipts for purchases are compiled, reviewed, and turned in to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
    • Run errands on behalf of coaches & staff, as necessary.
    • Transfer documents between REA and Memorial Village for UND compliance, business office, & academics.
    • Maintain all database files.
    • All other duties as assigned by Head Men's Hockey Coach and/or Director of Athletics. 

Required Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and computer skills (Microsoft Excel & Word).
  • Must have effective professional working relationship with student-athletes, staff, administration, alumni, and general public.
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Must have commitment to NCAA compliance and follow all NCAA, conference and und rules and regulations
  • Must provide support and encouragement and ensure the safety and well-being of the student- athletes including having a valid driver’s license.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 2 years of experience coaching and/or teaching 14-20 year-old advanced hockey players.
  • Experience with collegiate men's hockey recruiting, as an employee or player.
  • 1 year of experience with hockey video software.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 or more years of hockey recruiting experience at the NCAA Division I level.
  • Hockey playing experience at the NCAA Division I level.
  • Experience with NCAA Division I recruiting rules and regulations.
  • University of North Dakota ties by either having attended or through employment.
  • Hockey playing experience at the professional level.
  • North Dakota ties by having lived or born in the state.
