Assistant Professor of Accountancy, Tenure Track

Salary/Position Classification

• $150,000 9-month contract, Exempt
• 40 hours per week
• This position will work onsite at UND Grand Forks, ND

Purpose of Position

The successful candidate will teach up to five courses a year in our accountancy program including introductory and advanced courses both in person and online. The position also includes mentoring students and developing and maintaining a research agenda aligned with AACSB Scholarly Academic (SA) standards. The successful candidate will be expected to publish research related to the discipline. Service to the department, college, university, and profession will also be an important part of the position.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Teaching - demonstrate interest and ability to successfully develop rigorous courses that inspire students and prepare graduates for success in professional careers. Teaching assignments are expected to include courses in financial accounting but may include courses in other areas of accounting. Data analytics, current technology, and high-impact teaching practices are incorporated across the accounting curriculum.
• Research - demonstrate the ability to establish a productive research agenda.
• Service - faculty are expected to contribute to service within the department, college, university, and community. The Herr School of Accountancy emphasizes alumni engagement, professional involvement, and activities that enrich student experiences and career opportunities.

Required Competencies

• The ability to teach, inspire, and mentor students
• Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside of the Herr school of Accountancy
• Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students
• Competence in using technology and ability to adopt new tools for both on-campus and online course delivery.

Minimum Requirements

• Ph.D. in Accounting or Business with an accounting emphasis/concentration/major from an AACSB accredited program (ABD will be considered provided degree will be conferred prior start date).
• Evidence of quality teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses
• Evidence of scholarly research activity commensurate with experience
• Evidence in support of AACSB Faculty Qualification standards for Scholarly Academic (SA)
• Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional accounting experience
• Professional accounting certification
