  • $140,000+ Dependent on Experience, 9-month contract
  • 40 hours per week

Purpose of Position

The Middleton School of Entrepreneurship & Management at the University of North Dakota seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Management. The successful candidate will teach up to five courses a year in our supply chain management program including introductory and advanced courses both in person and online. The position also includes mentoring students and developing and maintaining a research agenda aligned with AACSB Scholarly Academic (SA) standards. The successful candidate will be expected to publish research related to the discipline. Service to the department, college, university, and profession will also be an important part of the position.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teaching - demonstrate interest and ability to successfully develop rigorous courses that inspire students and prepare graduates for success in professional careers. Teaching assignments are expected to include courses in supply chain management but may include courses in other areas of management. Current technology, and high-impact teaching practices are incorporated across the curriculum. 
  • Research - demonstrate the ability to establish a productive research agenda. 
  • Service - faculty are expected to contribute to service within the department, college, university, and community. The Middleton School emphasizes professional involvement, and activities that enrich student experiences and career opportunities. 

Required Competencies

  • The ability to teach, inspire, and mentor students
  • Ability to work with and engage students and colleagues with a broad range of backgrounds within and outside of the Middleton School
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students
  • Competence in using technology and ability to adopt new tools for both on-campus and online course delivery.

Minimum Requirements

  • An earned doctorate in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or closely related field from an AACSB accredited program/institution (ABD will be considered provided degree will be conferred prior to start date).
  • Evidence of quality teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses
  • Evidence of scholarly research activity commensurate with experience
  • Evidence in support of AACSB Faculty Qualification standards for Scholarly Academic (SA)
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience in operations management, supply chain management, or a similar field.
  • Demonstrated high-quality teaching effectiveness including high-impact practices and experiential learning.
  • Experience advising/coaching/leading professionals or student groups
