Purpose of Position

The Warehouse Delivery Technician is responsible for performing pickup and deliveries for the departmental Central Stores and Receiving and other tasks as assigned. In addition, this position serves on the departmental snow removal team and is responsible for performing snow and ice removal/mitigation for the Facilities Management Department at the University of North Dakota. This position must be able and willing to work nights, early mornings and weekends as needed.

All Facilities Management positions are subject to overtime and callbacks twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week as needed/directed by supervisors/directors.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Surplus, Receiving, Pickup & Deliveries
  • Manage UND Public Surplus site, verify payments, generate property receipts, and assist with customer property pickup
  • Manage surplus paperwork, schedule with POC pick up time/date, and gather needed equipment for pickup
  • Prepare surplus recycled property, remove hard drives, assemble property on pallets, shrink wrap, and request movement
  • Perform surplus pickup review with department, ensure property matches form(s), complete removal, document workorder
  • Load and unload surplus on vehicle IAW disposal directions provided by Surplus Technician
  • Oversee weekly vehicle inspection, notify supervisor of safety concerns, and schedule vehicle maintenance when needed
  • Maintain certification on standard forklifts up to 4500lbs weight capacity and Gehl Telehandler, used for delivery processes
  • Handle packages and freight IAW applicable laws and regulations
  • Receive freight and packages from vendor’s, delivery companies and interdepartmental surplus items
  • Use forklift to assist with load and unload of UND property
  • Pick-up and deliver items from Central Receiving to campus departments
  • Stage, organize, and load warehouse inventory into vehicle for delivery of campus custodial supplies
  • Contact UND requester of incoming property, inform them if damaged, and determine delivery or property return process
  • Generate action workorders and assign to applicable personnel in absence of Receiving/Surplus Technician
  • Organize and number weekly surplus sale items, take pictures, develop descriptions, and upload auction items
  • Assist UND staff with any questions regarding surplus process
  • Snow Removal & Heavy Equipment Operation
  • Maintain user certification on large & small front-end loaders, tool cat sweeper, and dump truck to complete snow removal
  • Perform equipment safety inspection prior to start of snow removal, notify Landscape Supervisor of damage/repairs required
  • Remove snow/ice from designated campus streets, sidewalks, parking lots and other hardscapes in a timely manner
  • Follow directions of Facilities Management and Landscape/Grounds Coordinator or designee
  • Notify Supervisor of any changes to normal duty hour operations if requested by Landscape/Grounds Supervision
  • Ensure snow removal timecard compliance are within Landscape/Grounds Supervision directions & Facilities guidelines 
  • Warehouse Duties
  • Operate and maintain warehouse equipment including, but not limited to propane forklift, pallet jack, two-wheel carts, order pickers, and bar code readers, etc.
  • Perform annual and cycle inventories
  • Perform general cleaning housekeeping in all warehouse areas

Required Competencies

  • Requires the ability to interact, communicate, and work with students, faculty, staff, and co-workers
  • Requires basic computer skills/experience
  • Requires use/operation of hand tools, drills, and boom truck
  • Requires excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills

Minimum Requirements

  • Basic computer skills to include Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
  • HS/ GED OR equivalent experience
  • 3 years of driving and/or moving experience
  • Experience with forklift, tool cat, tractor, payloader and dump trucks
  • Successful completion of Criminal History Background check

  • Knowledge of warehouse and inventory practices
  • Prior experience with surplus are receiving
