Purpose of Position

UND’s TRIO Upward Bound Program, a federally funded college preparatory program for low income and first-generation high school students, is looking to fill Resident Tutor Advisor (RTA) positions for its 2025 residential summer program. All applicants must be enrolled in college and in good academic standing or a recent graduate of an accredited university.

Duties & Responsibilities

Upward Bound Summer Program Resident Tutor Advisors (RTAs) work with the UND TRIO Upward Bound Staff to design, assist, implement, and participate in classroom and non-classroom activities throughout each day of the six-week residential summer program. RTAs mentor, supervise, and tutor the Upward Bound students during the residential summer program (June 2nd-July 9th), in which the Upward Bound RTAs live in the summer residence hall (with room and board provided for staff during the on-campus portion), supervising the program participants both in the residence hall, during daily classes, and during afternoon/evening/weekend activities.

Required Competencies

  • Demonstrated excellence in written and interpersonal communication
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment
  • Ability to work with adolescents while demonstrating leadership, maturity, reliability, empathy, patience, and creativity
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds
  • Ability to sit and occasionally drive long distances

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License 
  • Must be enrolled in college and in good academic standing or a recent graduate of an accredited university. 
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
