Purpose of Position

The Department of Music at the University of North Dakota is seeking a Teaching Assistant Professor of Music Therapy to begin August 16, 2024. This is a 9-month non-tenure track position contingent on availability of funding.

Duties & Responsibilities

The UND Department of Music is seeking a dynamic faculty member to assist in re-launching its music therapy program. The initial year will consist of teaching Introduction to Music Therapy, teaching other essential study music courses, and may include administrative duties. All faculty are expected to contribute service within the department, college, university, and community and to participate in the department’s recruitment and outreach initiatives. Required Competencies

  •  Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  •  Evidence of the ability to teach, inspire, and mentor students.
  •  Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff,
     and students.
  •  Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside the
     Department of Music.

Minimum Requirements

  • A master’s degree in music therapy completed by August 15, 2024. 
  • Five years of music therapy clinical practice (or equivalent in part-time employment).
  • Board Certification by CBMT.
  • Successful completion of a criminal history background check.

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. This position does not support visa sponsorship for continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing clinical supervision for music therapy.
  • Experience in teaching music courses at the college level.
  • Scholarly evidence that shows potential for publishing original research.
