Be a part of cutting-edge research, engage with professionals who share your passion, and create work you can be proud of. As a Research Manager, you will contribute to the success of the organization by performing one or more of the following:

  • Working with principal investigators and project managers to facilitate scientific research.
  • Coordinating with technical and support teams to develop and execute scopes of work, plan and manage budgets, plan and manage project schedules, and complete deliverables and milestones on multiple projects.
  • Maintaining knowledge of contractual scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and required deliverables and helping ensure adherence to these.
  • Working with technical and nontechnical teams to coordinate and write proposals in response to federal, state, and commercial funding opportunities.
  • Monitoring project progress and proactively communicating to identify and correct issues.
  • Preparing technical and nontechnical documents such as progress reports, posters, and topical reports with project teams.
  • Preparing slides for technical presentations using PowerPoint.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a scientific field
  • 1 year of related experience and demonstrated skills relevant to the responsibilities of the position, including those outlined in the description above
  • Experience preparing proposals in response to federal, state, or commercial funding opportunity announcements
  • Experience writing, proofreading, and editing technical documents
  • Experience working with scientific nomenclature, e.g., chemical engineering, geoscience, geological, petroleum, chemistry, and/or reservoir engineering terms
  • Experience working with and coordinating with multiple teams or groups, including technical, financial, and contractual groups to conduct research and/or manage projects
  • Proficiency with Microsoft software, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

  • Due to worksite locations in a federal building and/or working on federal government contracts, this position requires the candidate to be a US Citizen. 
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 or more years of experience conducting or facilitating research for federal, state, and/or commercial clients
  • Experience preparing, writing, and formatting documents following federal and/or state reporting requirements, e.g., quarterly progress reports, topical reports, technical reports, and final reports
  • Experience assisting with federal and/or nonfederal contract negotiation
  • Experience with risk management, risk assessment, budget development, or economic impact assessment
  • Experience using project management software, e.g., Smartsheet, Oracle Primavera P6, Microsoft Project
  • Project Management Institute Project Management Professional certification
