Research Assistant or Associate Professor, Biomedical Engineering

Purpose of Position

The Biomedical program at the College of Engineering & Mines, University of North Dakota, is at the forefront of innovation-based learning, aiming to equip students with the skills needed to become leaders in biomedical innovation. Biomedical engineering encompasses various engineering and scientific disciplines.
We are seeking to hire one new faculty member at the rank of assistant or associate professor to contribute to research and teaching within the Biomedical Engineering program. This position is fully funded through external grants, and continued employment is contingent upon the ongoing availability of such external funding.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Machine Learning and Image Processing Algorithms.
  • Collaborate in the development of research grants.
  • Provide mentorship to undergrad and graduate students.
  • Co-teach two 3-credit courses in Biomedical Engineering, focusing on Medical Devices or other relevant areas. 

Required Competencies

  • Proficiency in Machine Learning.
  • Experience in Image or Signal Processing.

Minimum Requirements

  • PhD in Computer Science or related Engineering fields.
  • One or more quality publications in Machine Learning Applications or peer-reviewed journals.
  • Experience in writing one or more research grants.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous faculty position as an assistant or associate professor.
  • Teaching experience
  • Familiarity with Deep Learning, Federated Learning, or Blockchain
