Salary/Position Classification

  • $40,000 - $45,000 Annual, Dependent on Experience, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
  • 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm (or 7:00am - 3:30pm)
    • On an infrequent basis, may be required to work evenings and weekends
  • This position will work onsite at UND Grand Forks, ND campus

Purpose of Position

The purpose of this position is to promote compliance with parking regulations in a customer-focused, fair, consistent, and educational manner that supports a safe, welcoming, and accessible campus. This position serves as a helpful presence in parking facilities by providing clear information, assistance, and problem resolution to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Through respectful communication and professionalism, this position balances parking compliance with exceptional customer service to foster a positive campus experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Promote Parking Compliance
    • Promotes a positive campus experience by always using a calm and professional demeanor.
    • Through exceptional customer service, provide directions and information to students, faculty, staff, and visitors to campus regarding campus locations, facilities, activities, and parking regulations.
    • Monitors parking on campus by regularly traveling through assigned areas, observing for parking violations, enforcing parking regulations, and reporting concerns to leadership.
    • Thoroughly, accurately, and professionally documents complaints, daily activities, and incidents and submits the information to the appropriate individual(s).
    • Regularly inform the team of user habits and possible abandoned, inoperable, or long-term immobilized vehicles.
    • Monitor and report any issues with parking enforcement software or equipment, helping where needed.
    • Maintain knowledge of parking regulations and procedures.
    • Promotes safety and environmental protection by immediately reporting unsafe situations, accidents, etc.; following University safety procedures; and participating in appropriate safety training. 
  • Support Parking Operations needed.
    • Monitor sign inventory and submit reorder requests as needed.
    • In course of normal duties, observe the physical components of the parking facilities, including surface conditions, curbing, drainage issues, lighting, signage, etc. and report to leadership.
    • Provide battery jumps for automobiles in accordance with University procedures.
    • Completes daily vehicle inspections and report vehicle maintenance issues immediately.
    • Assist with annual parking ramp cleaning event.
    • Assist with compiling information and preparing maps for scheduled maintenance, e.g. striping, pothole repairs, crack fill and sealcoating. 
  • Serve as a Lead
    • Manage enforcement supplies, ensuring vehicles are stocked adequately and notify supervisor of low stock for reordering.
    • Assist supervisor with training of new enforcement staff.
    • Assist supervisor with updating enforcement training materials.
    • Assist with team building, leadership, mentoring of parking compliance team.
    • In the supervisor’s absence assist with supervisory duties, such as reviewing and approving timecards; review enforcement reports and prior citations to ensure accuracy and identify areas for improvement, and submit void requests as applicable; answer team member questions and provide guidance as related to parking compliance operations 
  •  Active Team Member of Parking Services
    • Support the mission, vision, and goals of Parking Services by performing other duties as assigned with professionalism, efficiency, and a commitment to excellence.
    • Contributes to departmental initiatives, collaboration with team members, and ensures high-quality service delivery aligned with organizational objectives.
    • Provides coverage for other areas as directed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in meeting departmental needs. This may include assuming additional responsibilities, assisting with special projects, and supporting colleagues to ensure the continuity of operations.
    • Maintains a proactive and solution-oriented approach to support the overall success of the department.
    • Create, update, and maintain detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all job duties, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
    • Comply with records retention of documentation.
    • Provide documentation for audit requests or data requests as needed. 

Required Competencies

  • On an infrequent basis, may be required to work evenings and weekends (based on events, staffing, etc.).
  • Requires strong oral communication skills, with ability to communicate in-person, over the phone, and via portable radio.
  • Requires strong customer service skills, with ability to maintain a calm and courteous demeanor in all situations.
  • Maintain integrity and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task and to work with interruptions in a busy work environment.
  • Ability to perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ability to use a variety of computer systems and software, including T2, and Microsoft Office Products.
  • Ability to direct traffic using verbal commands and hand signals..

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years of customer service experience
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook or Word
  • Knowledgeable of UND campus parking lots and buildings
  • Experience with UND policies and procedures
