Salary/Position Classification

  • $71,300 - $74,865 annual, Exempt
  • 40 hours per week
  • This position will work onsite.

Purpose of Position

The Office of Student Services (OSS) Manager provides leadership in all aspects of student services including admissions, scholarships, financial aid, recruitment activities, dissemination and verification of student handbooks, data reporting, event planning, and student data tracking of admission, retention, and graduation information. The manager also trains and supervises OSS staff.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Office of Student Services
    • Responsible for the training and supervision of staff in the day-to-day operations of the Office of Student Services
    • Ensure OSS strategic goals align with the college and university's mission and goals through effective communication
    • Oversee the student verification process
    • Work with faculty and staff to develop and implement policies and guidelines to ensure OSS is functioning as a student-centered office in compliance with University and Department of Nursing requirements
    • Assist with student appeals and petition process
    • Responsible for overall management of student records
    • Collaborate with department chairs to develop an annual recruitment calendar and plan
    • Collaborate with central administration (School of Graduate Studies, Registrar, Admissions & Financial Aid)
    • Oversee the annual scholarship process for the department of nursing
  • Support Student Retention & Graduation
    • Ensure OSS staff are trained and utilizing the university’s retention tools
    • Identify any potential academic access issues that impact a student's ability to enroll in prerequisite classes and work with the appropriate individuals or departments to find solutions
    • Work with undergraduate nursing chair to develop pre-nursing student programming
    • Coordinate activities in the nursing living-learning community (LLC) with the Housing office
    • Oversee the registration process for all undergraduate and graduate nursing students
    • Act as a resource for advising information for faculty and provide training opportunities as necessary
    • Oversee the creation and/or maintenance of student files/records and tracking spreadsheets
    • Work with faculty advisors to ensure that advising notes are maintained in student records and student retention and graduation initiatives are being followed
    • Coordination of undergraduate nursing pinning ceremonies
  • Admission and Program Recruitment
    • Oversee the graduate student application process to ensure student applications are reviewed and respective nursing program directors and admission decisions are entered in a timely fashion
    • Oversee the undergraduate student application process and work with Assistant OSS Director to ensure college and university policies are being followed
    • Address prospective student inquiries through email, phone or in person
    • Provide guidance to prospective students and current students; refer students to track directors or department chairs as appropriate
    • Communicate and manage onboarding process for all new undergraduate and graduate nursing students
    • Coordinate undergraduate nursing orientation and Lamp of Knowledge ceremonies
    • Contact high schools in the region to set up visits and tours
    • Work with Admissions and other departments to coordinate all recruitment events
    • Communicate with Admissions to disseminate information about the nursing program to recruiters and regional high school counselors
    • Ensure all admissions applications are open and have the correct application dates
    • Attend university recruitment events as applicable (i.e. major/minor fairs)
  • Data Collection and Reporting
    • Compile all undergraduate and graduate students’ admission, progression and graduation data and reports to the appropriate department chair and dean
    • Responsible for reporting student data needed for annual accreditation reports (i.e. NDBON, CCNE, etc.)
    • Provide student data periodically when requested by nursing faculty (i.e. assessment purposes, Sigma Theta Tau, grants, etc.)

  • Knowledge or ability to learn undergraduate and graduate nursing programs
  • Basic knowledge about hospital/medical organizations
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff and maintain collegial relationships

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or healthcare related field
  • Two years of supervisory experience
  • Experience with student records or other records maintenance
  • Three years of experience with customer service
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in education or healthcare related field
  • Experience in higher education
  • Experience with or understanding of advising models
  • Experience in university admissions and recruitment processes
  • Experience in the use, development and implementation of various technology/digital resources.
