Costume Storage Organizer (Temporary)

Purpose of Position

We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented individual to assist in the management and organization of our theatre costume storage space. This temporary position involves sorting, categorizing, and maintaining an efficient system for storing costumes, accessories, and related materials. The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail and a passion for theatre, ensuring that our costume collection is well organized and accessible for upcoming productions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Sort and categorize existing costumes, and accessories by Period
  • Label and inventory all costumes and related items for easy identification and retrieval.
  • Maintain a clean and organized storage area, ensuring that costumes are properly hung, folded, or stored in appropriate bins to prevent damage.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and maintenance protocols in the costume storage area.

Required Competencies

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good physical stamina, as the role may involve lifting, bending, and standing for
    extended periods.
  • Basic knowledge of fabric types, garment care, and clothing time period.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of clothing types
  • Knowledge of costume periods
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in theatre, costume design, or wardrobe management is preferred
  • Prior experience in organizing a costume storage area
