Purpose of Position

Teach Beginning 5K Running Class Online

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teach and facilitate an online 5K running and fitness course using the institution’s learning management system, such as Blackboard.
  • Develop and organize weekly course content, including training plans, instructional materials, discussion activities, and fitness assignments.
  • Provide instruction on safe running techniques, pacing, endurance training, stretching, recovery, injury prevention, and goal setting.
  • Communicate regularly with students through announcements, email, discussion boards, and virtual office hours.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and course records in accordance with university policies.
  • Promote safe exercise practices and encourage lifelong physical activity and wellness habits. - (Essential)

Required Competencies

  • Knowledge of running training principles, cardiovascular fitness, and exercise safety.
  • Experience with lesson planning, organization, and student assessment.
  • Proficiency using Blackboard Learn or similar online learning platforms.
  • Ability to adapt instruction to accommodate students with varying fitness and experience levels.
  • Basic technology skills, including online communication and digital content management.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field
  • Experience using Blackboard Learn or another learning management system in an educational or training setting.
  • Ability to work remotely and reliably access online teaching technology.
  • Ability to meet university deadlines and maintain accurate course documentation.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
