Audio Video Producer/Director - Internal Only

Salary/Position Classification

  • $62,000+ annual, Exempt
  • 40 hours per week
  • This position will work onsite.

Purpose of Position

  • To provide broadcast support and project supervision for UND Aerospace and Aerospace Network.
  • To provide creative support and production expertise for video projects and broadcasts.
  • To crew, direct and supervise designated professional and student production staff for Aerospace Network and clients of UND Aerospace Foundation.
  • To provide and direct studio and field production operations including videography, video editing, script development, classroom and studio technical operation, live broadcast direction, graphic design development and supervision of student training.
  • To track and account for time spent on projects for accounting and billing purposes.

Duties & Responsibilities

  •  Video Production:
    • Supervise video production team and projects.
    • Evaluate individual team members performance.
    • Create work plans, schedules, budgets.
    • Communicate with customers or end-users.
    • Participate in commercialization activities.
    • Assist in development of technical specifications and upgrades.
    • Schedule personnel for live satellite uplink broadcasts and general Aerospace support. 
  •  Producer/Director:
    • Design and create graphics to enhance video and slide presentations.
    • Develop story boards, determines photos needed, develops shot sequences and writes scripts.
    • Formulate design concepts, selects location and directs and coordinates set design for audiovisual productions.
    • Operate a computerized post production editing system.
    • Recommend equipment, supply and material purchases.
    • Evaluate, interprets and analyzes user needs, program objectives and program results.
    • Direct, coordinates and supervises all aspects of an audiovisual production.
    • Develop and monitors budgets, approves expenditures and recommend equipment purchases.
    • Coordinate and supervise all productions for the private sector.
    • Maintain equipment, supplies, props used in production and viewing of audiovisual and slide tape programs.
    • Act as a lead person in scheduling and directing work study, freelance, and part time employees, cast members or production crews. 
  •  Manage Distance Education Classroom Activities:
    • Access needs and areas requiring improvement.
    • Develop and implement a quality assurance plan.
    • Evaluate programs and products.
    • Correct identified deficiencies.
    • Evaluate personnel performance.
    • Coordinate activities with various ASN departments.
  •  Manage Media Duplication and Distribution:
    • Plan and schedule duplicating.
    • Monitor and correct in house duplicated media problems.
    • Coordinate duplication projects with customers.
    • Ensure quality control. 
  •  Billing:
    • Track and record client billing information.
    • Keep billing records current.
    • Create billing reports as needed.
    • Provide reports to UND AF and JDOSAS accountants as needed. 
  •  Project Tracking:
    • Meet with UNDAF and JDOSAS accountants on a regular basis to ensure timely billing and resolve problems.
    • Maintain work records and track project time accurately and in a timely manner. 

Required Competencies

  • Flexibility will be essential in transition to this role.
  • Computer skills.
  • Strong communication skills in all areas.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate video cameras, video editing systems, studio and classroom Computer production tools.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Development of supervisory skills.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Radio/Television Broadcasting, Journalism, Multi-Media Creative Services/Production, or related field, OR Associates Degree and 3 years of directly related work experience.
  • 5 years professional video or television experience in a wide variety of production positions.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

  • Supervisory experience.
