Salary/Position Classification

  • $17.85 - $20.00 hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
  • 40 hours per week
    • Typical Shift 7am:3:30pm
  • This position will work onsite at UND Grand Forks, ND campus

Purpose of Position

The purpose of this position is to receive and store groceries, deliver food and equipment to event sites and dining centers, and to perform routine custodial duties.

Duties & Responsibilities

Receive and stock grocery items

  • Receive grocery items from the warehouse and direct ship vendors, verifying accuracy of the delivery to the invoice
  • Assist with putting away grocery items for Catering, Food Court, Starbucks, and Wilkerson Stomping Grounds
  • Verify that incoming groceries are received within the proper temperature zone
  • Stock groceries in the storeroom, freezers, and coolers using FIFO method.
  • Assist with organizing storeroom, coolers and freezers inventory.  
  • Assists with taking of physical inventory in Catering, Food Court, Starbucks, and WSG as necessary

Performs routine custodial duties

  • Sweeps, mops, and vacuums assigned areas.  Utilizes floor cleaning machines in kitchen areas   
  • Cleans storerooms, coolers, and freezers on a scheduled basis.  Regularly cleans and maintains employee restrooms in Catering kitchen
  • Clean and maintain the uniform area in the Catering Kitchen.  Put away laundry and organize the laundry to be picked up.
  • Regularly maintains and cleans the dishwashing machines in Catering Kitchen and Food Court.  Clean the Mini pulpers as scheduled.           
  • Assists in the ordering of cleaning supplies for Campus Catering and the Union Food Court.       

Delivers food, supplies, and equipment  to campus locations

  • Deliver supplies/product from Memorial Union locations to external retail locations as needed.
  • Assist Residential Dining with deliveries in the event of staffing shortages.
  • Picks up equipment/supplies/product from the Central Warehouse as directed.

Removes refuse from the building

  • Removes all garbage from the kitchen, service area, locker rooms, and restrooms
  • Assist with changing the oil in fryers.  Removes grease/grease buckets from kitchen spaces.  Removes broken glass containers from kitchen and safely dispose of items.
  • Removes cardboard and recyclables from the kitchen spaces and dispose of outside of building in approved receptacles.

Required Competencies

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work in various temperatures
  • Will stand/stoop/lift 3-4 hours at a time
  • Ability to move up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to read and understanding shipping invoices
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Have an optimistic attitude, high degree of integrity, and a strong work ethic

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Dishwashing/Janitorial experience
  • Knowledge of basic custodial techniques and cleaning chemicals
  • General knowledge and experience using: vacuum cleaner, dish machine, mop buckets, floor scrubber, carpet machine
  • Experience of cleaning and upkeep of buildings, experience in food service or health organization
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six months of experience with receiving and stocking inventory
  • Experience with inventory management
  • Experience with the supplies, equipment, and methods used in custodial work to include but not limited to:, floor scrub machine, steam clean machine, burnishing machine, cleaning chemicals, vacuum cleaner, ladders, pop machines, tents, grills, automated dish machine, vehicle washer and some catering equipment
  • Truck driving experience
  • NRA ServSafe Certification
