Salary/Position Classification

  • $44,300 - $45,892 annual, Exempt
  • 40 hours per week
  • This position will work onsite.

Purpose of Position

The primary function of Videographer & Content Creator position is to help execute the creative video content strategy across all channels and platforms for the University of North Dakota Athletics. The entire university will benefit from the exposure produced by this position. Must have a commitment to compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations. Must provide support and encouragement and ensure the safety and well-being of the student-athletes.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Produce Live Video Content 
    • Oversight of the in-game production at all home games in the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.
    • Help plan, direct, shoot, and edit introduction videos for select athletic programs.
    • Work closely with marketing team, Fighting Hawks Sports Partnerships, and UND Insider to produce all in-venue content.
    • Help schedule and train UND Insider interns for in-venue production & content.
    • Provide hands-on mentorship and feedback to UND Insider interns, supporting their growth in production and storytelling.
    • Manage all department-issued equipment & ensure it is stored safely and in proper working order.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Video Content, Assistant Athletic Director for Communication & Content, and/or the Deputy Athletics Director/COO.
  • Produce On-Demand Content 
    • Capture, create, and edit high-quality dynamic content for digital and social media platforms.
    • Produce video content tailored for marketing, sponsorship, and additional campaigns in alignment with UND’s brand identity.
    • Produce engaging digital content that highlights the impact of UND Athletics, its student-athletes, & external and internal constituents.
    • Work closely with the Director of Video Content, marketing team, Fighting Hawks Sports Partnerships, multimedia rights holder, and UND Insider interns to execute content strategies.
    • Maintain and understanding of emerging digital media trends and industry best practices to ensure UND remains at the forefront of digital storytelling.
    • Other production & content duties as assigned by the Director of Video Content to support the UND LEADS Strategic Plan.

Required Competencies

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Must have effective professional working relationship with student-athletes, staff, administration, alumni, and general public.
  • Must have commitment to NCAA compliance and follow all NCAA, conference and UND rules and regulations.
  • Must provide support and encouragement and ensure the safety and well-being of the student-athletes including having a valid driver’s license.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, video production or related field.
  • 1 year of experience as an intern, part-time, or full-time in sports, news video production, or related video production.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check (CHBC).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of full-time experience in sports, news video production, or related video production.
  • Experience with video cameras, Tri-Caster, 3 Play, Chyron.
  • Experience with Adobe Premier Pro.
  • Experience with Adobe After Effects.
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop.
  • Knowledge of intercollegiate athletics through experience.
  • Still photography experience.
  • Graphic design experience.
