Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

Duties & Responsibilities

  •  Research and collects data through lab activities, library, and online resources, or other project-specific methodologies. 
  • Interpret, synthesize, and analyze data. 
  • Schedule, organize, and report on the status of research and engineering activities. 
  • Write and edit materials for distribution, presentation, and publication. 
  • Meet with the faculty supervisor on a regular basis to maintain ongoing communication regarding the assistant’s tasking and performance. 
  • Attend project meetings. 
  • Perform other related duties as required. - (Essential)

Required Competencies

  • Strong organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability and experience working independently and accurately to problem-solve technical and methodological issues that arise during the course of engineering design, development, and testing activities.
  • Subject knowledge and oral/written communication skills to discuss and document high-altitude ballooning and payloads projects results for progress reports.

Minimum Requirements

  • Support our high-altitude ballooning and payloads projects by engaging in associated engineering design, development, and testing activities. 
  • Responsible for assisting the faculty member in a variety of non-administrative tasks which may include preparing resources and materials for engineering design, development and testing, conducting hardware and software tests, documenting results, and other tasks in support of the high-altitude ballooning and payloads projects activities. 
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. This position does not support visa sponsorship for continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Subject knowledge of high-altitude ballooning and payloads projects results for progress reports.
