Salary/Position Classification

  • $2,000.00 monthly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
  • 10 hours per week
  • 100% Remote Work Availability: Yes

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision, facilitate Resident Teacher Learning Communities (RTLCs), and/or observation of RTs monthly.
  • Meet with Building Mentors and RTs to review RT caseload, schedule, and paperwork checklist.
  • Provide guidance for completing IEP and assessment meetings.
  • Communicate monthly with Building Mentors and with Building Principals and Special Education Directors/Coordinators as needed.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for improving instructional techniques.
  • Complete the RT performance evaluation and compile all mentor results once per university semester.
  • Correspond with RTs regularly offering suggestions and support.
  • Explain the internship requirements and assign grades for the internship credits using input from the Building Mentor.
  • Review RT assignments providing constructive feedback.
  • Provide Building Mentor training.
  • Complete disposition forms on the RTs when necessary.

Required Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of special education law, including IDEA, FAPE, and LRE.
  • Expertise in IEP development, implementation, and compliance.
  • Expertise in the special education assessment process.
  • Ability to interpret assessment data and apply it to instructional planning.
  • Demonstrated skill in instructional coaching and teacher mentoring.
  • Experience facilitating professional learning communities or collaborative learning structures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with university personnel, school staff, and district leadership.
  • Proficiency in providing constructive feedback and supporting reflective practice.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing documentation and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to evaluate instructional performance using structured rubrics or evaluation tools.
  • Demonstrated leadership in teacher preparation, mentoring, or school-based support roles.
  • Commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, and professional standards.
  • Knowledge of teacher licensure processes and program accreditation requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in special education or a related field
  • Experience in special education teaching and/or supervision.
  • Experience in teacher mentoring, coaching, or university-level field supervision.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
