Purpose of Position

The Marketing Coordinator will assist in the Athletic Department’s external operations mission to provide service and content by engaging fans, media and recruits in a manner that positively impacts our university while generating revenue and interest in our programs. This position will specifically focus on soccer, additional sport assignments as directed, special events and the Jr. Champions Kids Club. This individual will serve as a member of the marketing team that is involved in all aspects of fan development for all of our teams, including: planning, advertising, promoting, public relations, program and product development, distribution, research and content creation to meet the department’s goals and objectives as well as provide exceptional customer service to fans, donors, staff and friends of the University of North Dakota.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for soccer including the creation and execution of a comprehensive marketing strategy that focuses on increasing attendance with a specific emphasis on maximizing fan experience to create a home field advantage with additional efforts to include advertising, scripting, in-game elements, atmosphere and marketing items related to ticketing, production, and game day activities 
  • Daily oversight of all marketing efforts for Jr. Champions Kids Club including attracting members to sign up online, in sponsor branch locations, and at events, packet distribution, monthly e-newsletters, sending birthday cards, and creating and executing special events 
  • Assisting in the execution of game day promotions at designated home athletic events including but not limited to football, hockey, volleyball, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball 
  • Assisting with special events, tournaments, and post-season competition 
  • Create informed and attractive social media campaigns for soccer and Jr. Champions kids club that appeal to target audience of potential customers - Create postings and advertisements that can be shared to communicate with consumers on a public forum - Gameday social media responsibilities include capturing and posting content to share on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter 

Required Competencies

• Ability to encompass the strategic mission of the University of North Dakota and Intercollegiate Athletics with tact and diplomacy at all       times
• Strong interpersonal, creative, motivational and communication skills
• Excellent organizational, project management, problem-solving and customer service skills
• Ability to effectively meet established deadlines in a timely manner
• Significant knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Fluency of social media platforms outside of personal use
• Ability to communicate and adhere to University, Summit League, Missouri Valley Football Conference, NCHC, and NCAA policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
• Ability to work weekends

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• Graduated from college within one and a half years of application
• Successful Completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Marketing, Communications, Athletic Administration, Management, or a related field
• Marketing/promotions or sales/advertising experience with a collegiate or pro sports team
• Knowledge of the University of North Dakota
