Salary/Position Classification

  • $58,800-$62,400+ annual, Exempt
  • 40 hours per week
  • This position will work onsite the Grand Forks, ND campus.

Purpose of Position

We are seeking someone to contribute to our growing UAS technology group. The UAS technical lead works under the director to manage all UAS related activities at ATIC.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Train students to become licensed and skilled UAS operators
    • Educate and prepare students to pass the Part 107 exam
    • Develop and administer UAS simulation training modules
    • Develop and administer outdoor UAS operations
    • Quantify and measure the success of training
  • Lead UAS data collection ATIC projects
    • Devise data collection plan (flight mission, logistics, weather, flight parameter data collection team)
    • Supervise or perform flights when necessary to collect required data
    • Document each flight and save each flight's data properly on designated storage
  • Perform required analysis on UAS data
    • Organize collected data
    • Analyze data using appropriate analysis techniques, which may include the use of 3D modeling software, CAD, image/video processing
  • Write technical documents and generate financial reports
    • Prepare technical briefs, reports, and quarterly reports to the sponsor
    • Write technical documents to disseminate findings to peer-reviewed journals and prestigious conferences
    • Prepare professional slides to report the findings to the sponsor
    • Prepare and submit technical and financial quarterly reports in collaboration with ATIC resource manager
    • Assist the director in developing new research proposals
  • Maintain UAS inventory and keep a record of UAS personnel

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's in civil engineering or other engineering related fields
  • Experienced UAS pilot
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS degree in civil or construction engineering
  • 3D Modeling Generation and/or Manipulation
  • Interest and competency in AI and Machine Learning
