Purpose of Position

The Department of Mathematics at the University of North Dakota is seeking a Teaching Assistant Professor in mathematics. This is a 9-month, non-tenure track position contingent on availability of funding.

The Mathematics Department is housed in the College of Arts & Sciences and currently offers a BS in Mathematics, MS and MEd in Mathematics, and MS in Applied Statistics.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful applicant will receive a contract with an approximate distribution of 95% teaching and 5% service effort.   • Teach undergraduate courses in mathematics
  • Work collaboratively with other Mathematics Department faculty to achieve consistent and high-quality learning environments

Required Competencies

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • The ability to teach, inspire, and mentor students
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students
  • Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside the Department of Mathematics
  • Competent in using technology and ability to adopt new tools for both on-campus and online course delivery.

Minimum Requirements

  • Earned M.S. in Mathematics by August 15, 2024.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level
  • Experience teaching both in-person and online
  • Experience with course development for an online environment, especially using asynchronous delivery methods
