The Communication Department at the University of North Dakota seeks a full-time, non-tenure-track Teaching Assistant Professor contingent on available funding. The successful applicant will teach a mix of online and traditional face-to-face courses at the introductory to upper level. The area of expertise is journalism and related fields. The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in both pedagogy and practice, including digital innovation, and must hold at least an M.A./M.S. in Communication or related discipline by August 15, 2026. This position is not eligible for remote work and is a nonrenewable one-year appointment.
The teaching load for this position is 5/4. The successful candidate will teach both online and traditional face-to-face courses at the undergraduate level, including but not limited to some combination of COMM 104 Introduction to Journalism, COMM 200 Writing for New and Traditional Media, COMM 246 News Writing Fundamentals in the Online World, COMM 305 Audio Production & Broadcasting, and COMM 326 Content Creation for Social Media. All faculty, including the person hired for this position, are expected to contribute service to the department, including departmental outreach efforts; and to the college, university, and community.
