Purpose of Position

The Department of Aviation at the University of North Dakota seeks qualified applicants for a 60% workload, 9-month, non-tenure track, faculty position at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor. Anticipated start date for this position is August 16, 2026.
Remote worksite options are available as the position will only teach online classes.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
    • Teaching various aviation courses (3/3 60 % course load) at the undergraduate level.
    • Teaching Aviation Law, Aviation Insurance, and possibly some advanced aircraft operations courses.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Benefits include retirement, health, and life insurance plans. All applications will be screened on the basis of qualifications. Opportunities to additionally teach in the Summer may be available.

Required Competencies

  • Ability to teach and develop aviation courses at the undergraduate level.

Minimum Requirements

  • J.D. degree and minimum of 3 years of professional aviation experience.
  • FAA ATP pilot certification and FAA CFI/CFII certificate.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Insurance industry experience in claims or underwriting.
  • Evidence of established record of successful, collegiate-level classroom teaching in aviation.
