Salary/Position Classification

  • $16.00 Hourly, Non-Exempt (Not eligible for overtime)
  • Raises available twice a year, based on Fall Orientation attendance, number of workshops completed, and hours worked during the year
  • Hours per week: As a stagehand, you WILL NOT work every day or even weekly- Hours are only available when we have shows/events scheduled.
  • This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

Purpose of Position

Stagehand work at the Chester Fritz consists of the unloading and set-up of equipment for live shows/events, tear-down after shows, and the reloading of trucks, also assist in the setup of the stage for smaller events at the Fritz.

What You’ll Do:

  • Help load and unload trucks with show gear
  • Assist with the setup and tearing down stage equipment
  • Work with lights, sound, scenery, props, and other stage elements
  • Support production teams with backstage tasks during events

Required Competencies

  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • RELIABLE and on time
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Willing to ask questions and learn
  • Able to follow directions and stay focused
  • Comfortable working nights and weekends as needed
  • No experience necessary! If you can follow directions and work as part of a team, you can do this job.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Patience- there maybe periods of time you'll be waiting for others to finish their job before you can complete yours
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Must be available and willing to work some nights and weekends
  • Willingness to learn new things
