Salary/Position Classification

  • $64,000 + dependent on experience, Annual, Exempt
  • 40 hours per week
  • Must work from and be located in the State of Wyoming.

Purpose of Position

The incumbent will serve as the Sr. Marketing & Communications Specialist of one or more Center initiatives providing program-related marketing and communications efforts, to include design and information dissemination activities. This position conducts community outreach and engagement activities in the state of Wyoming. The initial project supporting this position will be with the Wyoming Maternal Health Innovation Program (WY-MHIP), which is focused on developing, implementing, and researching the impact of innovations in maternal health throughout Wyoming. This position reports to the Sr. Project Coordinator (pending hire), in the interim this position will report to the grant Principal Investigator.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop marketing and communication efforts of the grant initiative.
    • Manage content creation for program activities involving marketing, communications, design, and information dissemination.
    • Develop, implement, and manage public relations and media strategies.
    • Create informational content that supports the grant program in all formats (print, web, social media).
      • Prepare and edit publications and reports for internal and external audiences.
      • Create distribution-ready reports and collateral pieces.
    • Lead graphic/visual design processes, including branding activities.
    • Create, present, and disseminate grant program information.
      • Develop and make presentations to a wide range of audiences.
      • Engage in layout design and apply brand standards to information dissemination products.
    • Create and maintain program websites.
    • Develop, implement, and manage program’s website strategy.
    • Review, update and maintain program websites and listserv databases.
    • Maintain an online presence.
    • Monitor and manage social media formats.
      • Create informational content, share grant activities, information/news, and products.
    • Create, participate, and/or produce video content to support program activities and broader information dissemination in support of grant programs.
  • Conduct community and stakeholder engagement activities.
    • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with key stakeholder groups, individuals, and organizations.
    • Support community engagement initiatives.
    • Serve as a consultative resource to partners and agencies.
    • Attend national and state meetings, events & conferences.
  • Participate in professional activities.
    • Participate in Center for Rural Health meetings.
    • Develop and manage special projects and other job-related duties, as assigned.
    • Participate on committees, make presentations, and publish appropriate research or accomplishments, as assigned.
    • Keep current on the latest developments in the field and areas of interest related to your position, through reading and other communications.
    • Contribute to the advancement of the profession and status of the Center for Rural Health at the University of North Dakota.

  • Prefer ability to address a broad range of health-related subjects including maternal and child.
  • Prefer knowledge of format, layout, design and construction of branded materials.
  • Prefer ability to write for academic, policy, and research audiences.
  • Prefer familiarity with web standards, website usability, search engine optimization, web analytics, and content strategy principles.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree.
  • 5 years of relevant work experience in communications, marketing, and/or community engagement related positions.
  • Experience writing and editing communication materials for both broad and distinct audiences to include writing for the web. To establish this, writing samples will be required at the time of application.
  • Experience with branding, graphic design, and creation of collateral pieces for both broad and distinct audiences web. To establish this, a design portfolio will be required at the time of application.
  • 1 year of experience using web, video, and/or social media tools, strategies, and various platforms to disseminate information to a wide-range of audiences.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in marketing or communications field.
  • Experience working with multiple types of entities (community, state, federal) to promote grant-related activities.
  • Experience with copy editing and/or proofreading for traditional and digital communications.
  • Experience in public speaking or presenting to groups.
  • Videography and editing skills (camera operation, sound).
