Salary/Position Classification

  • $53,000 annual, Exempt
  • 40 hours per week
  • This position will work onsite our Grand Forks, ND campus.

Purpose of Position

The Senior Admissions Representative is responsible for the recruitment of undergraduate and graduate students to the University of North Dakota. This position carries the normal responsibilities of the Admissions Representative position, in addition to added responsibilities such as: training new Admissions Representatives, strategizing new ideas for recruitment goals, serving as a leader and mentor for the rep team, and troubleshooting areas that create barriers for admission processes. The position delivers the UND recruitment message to his/her territory’s high schools and community colleges, working closely with prospective freshman and transfer students, their parents, and high school guidance counselors. Admissions Representatives support the Admissions recruitment mission and the overall mission of the University. The messages conveyed and strategies employed will be consistent with an overall strategic student recruitment plan.

Duties & Responsibilities

Communicate with prospective students

  • Carry out recruitment strategies and cultivate interest among prospective students and families, to meet goals set by the University for transfer and freshman applications, admits, and enrolled.
  • Represent UND at college fairs, outreaches, and other events.
  • Develop and foster relationships with students and their families through on- and off- campus events and on-going communication.
  • Disseminate information effectively and with accuracy.
  • Answer inquiries from prospective students and families regarding all elements of the recruiting decision, including admission, registration, academic programs, transfer credits, financial aid/scholarship, housing and residence life.
  • Accurately portray university educational programs, expected outcomes, student services, and financial considerations to students, parents and educators.
  • Deliver group presentations about the benefits of attending the University of North Dakota.
  • Be familiar with objectives, requirements and content of all programs offered by the university in order to make a complete and factual presentation to prospective students and other interested parties.
  • Consistently conduct follow-up with all enrollments to assure successful matriculation.
  • Serve as an overall representative of the University, both on- and off-campus, to prospective students, families, and secondary school counselors.
  • Collecting student and parent feedback throughout the recruitment cycle to enhance and modify marketing and admissions materials annually
  • Build rapport and education about UND’s benefits to students with high school counselors, principles, teachers, etc. to help promote UND to prospective students.
  • Assist with the development of a specialized communications and recruitment campaign that will target high-ability incoming applicants.
  • Work with team members to continually improve the recruitment processes and strategies.
  • Facilitate Virtual Campus Visits as needed.
  • Provide Campus Tours as needed.
  • Create processes and efficiencies to ease the admission process for international students.
  • Build relationships with the International Center to promote partnerships in recruiting international students.

Maintain a recruitment territory and travel to schools and community colleges within territory

  • Travel to high schools and community colleges in the fall and spring seasons to present information on UND and meet with students, parents and guidance counselors/academic advisors.
  • Devise an effective travel plan in coordination with Assistant Director. Make travel arrangements within the budget guidelines and while being a good steward of University resources.
  • Maintain contact with prospective students and their families through the entire admission process using direct mailings, phone, email, text and other forms of communication.
  • Document communications in Salesforce CRM.
  • Communicate with prospective students and families before and after events.
  • Create off-campus events in territory to assist with the recruitment of prospective students.
  • Assist with planning on- and off-campus recruitment events.
  • Assist team members with events outside of assigned territory, as needed.
  • Assign vehicles to rep team for travel. 
  • Assign presentations and tours as needed each week to coordinate with the travel schedules of all reps. 

Assist University Admissions Office with processing and other general office duties.

  • To ensure timeliness of application processing assist with linking transcripts, review missing documents, and assist with communication as needed.
  • Strategizing new initiatives for short- and long-term goals
  • Serve on UND committees as appropriate.
  • Proactively identify, analyze, and improve upon existing business processes within position and/or within Enrollment Management Unit (University Admissions, One-Stop Student Services, and Student Finance).
  • Use data to identify priorities and monitor outcomes.
  • Troubleshoot areas that create barriers for admissions processes
  • Active participation in new Admissions Representatives training
  • Update and maintain the Admission Rep Training manual to ensure all processes are current and accurate.
  • Assist in identifying topics and scheduling Rep Retreat presentations/trainings each semester 

Required Competencies

  • Ability to travel and work a varied schedule with flexible evening and weekend hours during peak recruitment season.
  • Ability to travel to remote locations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and public relations skills including the ability to express ideas clearly, in a convincing and credible manner.
  • Demonstrated ability in problem solving, sound decision making, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to represent the University in a professional manner
  • Ability to relate to and develop rapport with a diverse range of students as well as high school & college counselors/advisors.
  • Familiarity with programs and services offered at UND.
  • Able to load and transport admissions materials, displays and other equipment (lift up to 40 pounds).

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Two years admissions/recruiting experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite software, email, and Internet
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year working in customer service or training.
  • Experience directly related to successful college recruitment & promotion.
  • One year of experience in marketing, public relations, or sales.
  • Experience using a Customer Relations Management (CRM) system
