Purpose of Position

To deliver quality care to patients. The RN performs functions of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care on assigned patients under the direction of the Nursing Supervisor and Physician. The RN involves the patient and significant other(s) in the patient’s health restoration, promotion, and maintenance. The RN utilizes established lines of authority and communication to provide care to patients.

Duties & Responsibilities

Plan, direct, coordinate and assist in providing quality medical care to patients

  • Take brief history, vital signs and record all medications and allergies. Contribute to nursing assessment by collecting, reporting, and recording objective and subjective data in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Clarify and implement physician orders.
  • Perform care, treatments, and procedures according to Center for Family Medicine 
  • Document and communicate nursing interventions and patient responses to appropriate members of the health care team. Documentation is completed in patient’s electronic chart as per established protocol(s).
  • Electronically refill prescriptions to pharmacy as ordered by physician with accuracy.
  • Schedule various procedures and or appointments with other physicians.
  • Report and track laboratory test results, and other diagnostic testing as indicated by Risk Management Policies and Procedures.
  • Follow-up on “No Show” appointments in accordance with Risk Management policies and procedures 

Assist with directing daily operations of nursing staff and related administrative duties

  • Assist with Risk Management updates of policies and procedure.
  • Provide orientation to new resident physicians and nursing staff, as well as other medical students.
  • Assist with coordination of nursing/physician schedules to assure appropriate staffing.
  • Assist with hospital follow-up recalls, with chronic care patient management, and with the creation/development of Bismarck CFM Nursing Policies & Procedures.  

Required Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with faculty and resident physicians.
  • Ability to work with patients and the public in a professional, confidential, and calm fashion.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or equivalent.
  • Registered Nurse licensure in the State of ND.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years of nursing experience in a clinical setting.
  • Experience with care coordination and chronic care management.
  • Epic electronic health record experience
