Salary/Position Classification

  • $50 hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
  • This position will work onsite the Grand Forks, ND campus.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop content and assessment strategies for assessing the need for orthotics, and designing, fabricating, applying, fitting and training in orthoses and devices used to enhance occupational performance and participation. 
  • Motivate, support, and empower students to expand their confidence in this subject area by assisting them in defining academic success and monitoring progress for orthotic related content.
  • Meet with students individually and in small groups to reinforce and assist students with understanding course content 
  • Assist in tracking student success and other duties as assigned 
  • Grade assessment strategies related to orthoses. 
  • Maintain student confidentiality at all times 
  • Assist with preparation and disassembly of the lab setting
  • Lead in-person instruction of custom orthotics fabrication instruction and labs. 

Required Competencies

  • Knowledge to teach custom orthotics fabrication and labs.

Minimum Requirements

  • Licensed occupational therapist
  • 5 or more years clinical experience as a licensed occupational therapist
  • A minimum of 2000 hours of direct practice experience in hand therapy (see www.HTCC.org for definition)
  • Proficient in design, fit, and fabrication of custom upper extremity orthoses
  • Work independently
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues
  • Withstand periods of standing for orthoses lab
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Earned Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) credential
  • Past didactic or fieldwork teaching experience in occupational therapy
