Salary/Position Classification

  • $16.00 hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)

Purpose of Position

Deliver campus mail, printing jobs, and other parcels, timely and accurately, across campus and provide support to the Print & Mail Center as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform all phases of mail handling: Breakdown and processing of intra-campus and inbound mail and parcels, preparation of and processing of all outbound mail and parcels
  • Deliver and pick up of all intra-campus mail, printing jobs, Federal Express, USPS, and UPS letters and parcels to various Campus Departments at scheduled times
  • Maintain accurate and organized delivery records and use a handheld computer to update delivery records
  • Deliver copier paper and office supplies to intra-campus departments
  • Demonstrate professionalism and provide excellent customer service to maintain strong customer relations
  • Receive and in-check packages from UPS, Federal Express and other shipping companies
  • Create and maintain records in the Print & Mail Center’s package tracking system for all received packages and other accountable items
  • Perform & document vehicle inspection monthly by checking all fluid levels, belts, lights, horn, and brakes to insure working properly
  • Vehicle assigned will be kept clean inside and out, operated in a safe manner, and all traffic laws obeyed
  • Answer telephones and be able to provide information on all printing, mailing, and shipping matters
  • Ensure mail and documentation for mailings meet USPS regulations
  • Perform weekly housekeeping in warehouse and office areas to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment; perform other duties as assigned; attend training workshops toward present and future career development (as budget allows); participate in general staff meetings and contribute to the implementation of special projects when assigned

Required Competencies

  • Ability to use independent judgement in routine and non-routine situations and aid in supervision of student employees
  • Must be able to operate mail processing equipment and software
  • Must have general knowledge in utilizing UPS and Federal Express shipping software
  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills, interpersonal communication skills, work well in a customer service atmosphere, and supervisors & other staff members while representing the department in a professional manner
  • Must be able to plan, organize, and/or prioritize daily assignments, work activities, and have a high attention to detail
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to changes in regulations, policy and procedure
  • Must work with and serve a diverse campus community
  • Must maintain safe driving habits as outlined in the state fleet handbook
  • Work cooperatively in a team environment.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience using computers.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license. (Driver License status will be checked at least annually)
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with USPS rules and regulations
  • Experience with UPS and Federal Express shipping regulations
  • Experience in a customer service environment
  • Knowledge of mail metering and procedures and methods as required in the performance of duties
