Salary/Position Classification

  • $16.00 hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)

Purpose of Position

Deliver campus mail, printing jobs, and other parcels, timely and accurately, across campus and provide support to the Print & Mail Center as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Process, sort, deliver, and pick up all incoming and outgoing intra-campus mail, packages, printing jobs, and paper at scheduled times.

  • Handle all phases of mail operations, including inbound, outbound, and intra-campus USPS, UPS, and FedEx letters and parcels.

  • Receive, check-in, and accurately log UPS, FedEx, and other carrier packages in the campus package tracking system.

  • Maintain accurate delivery and tracking records using handheld devices and internal databases.

  • Deliver copier paper and office supplies to campus departments as needed.

  • Provide professional, courteous customer service to maintain strong relationships with campus departments.

  • Perform and document routine vehicle inspections; operate assigned vehicles safely, legally, and keep them clean and well-maintained.

  • Assist with maintenance of the Print & Mail Center vehicle fleet, including weekly light cleaning.

  • Provide backup support for printing and mailing operations, including answering phones and assisting with mailing and shipping inquiries.

  • Assist with mail metering, postage rate selection, bulk mail processing, and USPS compliance.

  • Support printing and bindery operations, including folding, cutting, collating, binding, inserting, and inventory management.

  • Maintain clean, safe workspaces; participate in training, staff meetings, special projects, and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Competencies

  • Ability to use independent judgement in routine and non-routine situations and aid in supervision of student employees
  • Must be able to operate mail processing equipment and software
  • Must have general knowledge in utilizing UPS and Federal Express shipping software
  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills, interpersonal communication skills, work well in a customer service atmosphere, and supervisors & other staff members while representing the department in a professional manner
  • Must be able to plan, organize, and/or prioritize daily assignments, work activities, and have a high attention to detail
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to changes in regulations, policy and procedure
  • Must work with and serve a diverse campus community
  • Must maintain safe driving habits as outlined in the state fleet handbook
  • Work cooperatively in a team environment.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience using computers.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license. (Driver License status will be checked at least annually)
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with USPS rules and regulations
  • Experience with UPS and Federal Express shipping regulations
  • Experience in a customer service environment
  • Knowledge of mail metering and procedures and methods as required in the performance of duties
