Salary/Position Classification

  • $17,500 (subject to sufficient enrollment)
    • Contract 8/16/2025-12/23/2025
  • 20 hours per week
  • This position will work onsite.

Purpose of Position

To instruct assigned School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS) courses in the field of computer science and data science, providing students with a high-quality learning experience. This is a non-tenure track appointment contingent on enrollment and funding.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned undergraduate and graduate courses both online and on campus
  • Deliver high-quality instruction and manage course delivery on UND’s LMS platform (Blackboard Ultra)
  • Work collaboratively with the SEECS director to ensure consistency in course outcomes and learning experiences
  • Maintain availability for student consultation and support 

Required Competencies

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively teach and mentor students in both in-person and online modalities
  • Demonstrated technological proficiency and adaptability for online teaching platforms

Minimum Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline
  • Experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. This position does not support visa sponsorship for continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching machine learning or data mining
  • Experience with asynchronous online course development and instruction
  • Record of publications or applied work in machine learning or data science
