Salary/Position Classification

  • $4,738 contract, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
  • 8.01 hours per week
  • This position will work onsite.

Purpose of Position

The Department of History and American Studies seeks a part-time instructor to teach introductory US History courses in person to begin January 1, 2026.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will contribute to the History program through teaching introductory United States history (History 104: US Since 1877).

Required Competencies

  • Demonstrated knowledge of United States history.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and students
  • Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside the Department of History & American Indian Studies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to teach, inspire, and mentor students.

Minimum Requirements

  • Earned master’s degree in history or relevant field 
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching and/or advising college students
  • Experience or knowledge of history pedagogy
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence
