Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, not-benefited position. Candidates with your A&P (Airframe & Powerplant degree) or are working towards it, this is the place to be!

UND Aerospace (University of North Dakota) operates one of the largest fleets of civilian aircraft in North America. Our current fleet consists of over 100 aircraft that include Piper Archers, Piper Seminoles, Robinson R44 helicopters, Cessna 172's, Cessna 150's, American Champion Decathlons, and Beech King Airs. UND Aerospace is a world-renowned center for aerospace learning, nationally acclaimed for our achievements in collegiate aviation education, atmospheric research, space studies, earth system studies and policy research. With more than 500 faculty and staff members, 1,800+ students from around the world, and myriad programs and projects, UND Aerospace is setting the pace for the future of flight.


Our aircraft maintenance department employs 45-50 employees including Aircraft Technicians, Quality Control Inspectors, Avionics staff, Training staff, Inventory Control staff and Aircraft Detail staff. We operate as an FAA Part 145 Repair Station, performing all work to the highest standards.

We have a state of the art 14,520 square foot hangar that has white polyurethane painted floors with floor heat and radiant heat.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Aircraft Technicians are responsible to work with the Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Perform maintenance inspections, repairs, overhauls, or alternations of products or aircraft in accordance with the Repair Station Manual (RSM) and current FAR's, manufacturer's data drawings, specifications, and bulletins or other technical data acceptable to the FAA.
  • Creating work orders and ensuring proper paperwork is obtained.
  • Making necessary entries on the Maintenance Department's maintenance forms.
  • Airworthiness Directives to determine applicability and compliance.
  • Troubleshooting and correcting discrepancies involving the airworthiness of an aircraft.
  • Moving aircraft in and out of the maintenance hangar as necessary.
  • Assisting personnel in proper work procedures and practices.
  • Returning shop towels, support equipment, and expendable materials to Inventory Control at the end of the shift.
  • Keeping workplace in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Using approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL) as per part 135 and part 91 deferrals when required to return aircraft to service.

  • Computer skills.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) degree, or going to school to get one.
