The University of North Dakota’s (UNDs) Department of Atmospheric Sciences is seeking a qualified mid-career applicant with an existing nationally/internationally-recognized research portfolio to apply for an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor position (open rank) depending on qualifications. The position may be tenure track or an offer of tenure may be made based on a candidate's documented record of achievement and subject to approval from the Department, College, University and the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education. The anticipated start date is August 16, 2024, although an earlier start date may be considered.
The Department of Atmospheric Sciences is part of the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences at UND and offers degree programs leading to the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences. UND is a UCAR Member institution. Fall 2023 enrollments included 143 undergraduate students (79 minors and 64 majors) and 33 graduate students in these programs. Teaching and research is carried out by 10 faculty members; current areas of faculty expertise are listed at http://atmos.und.edu/Research/. Facilities include a 5-cm wavelength Doppler weather radar with dual polarization capability, two instrumented ground research sites, and use of a Cessna Citation research aircraft in collaboration with a local research firm. Cooperative programs are ongoing with the National Weather Service Weather Forecast Office in Grand Forks. Additional information can be found on our website.
