Lead Cold Food Preparer

  • $17.85-$22.00 hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
  • 40 hours per week

Purpose of Position

The purpose of this position is to prepare, serve and store cold foods related products in a safe and sanitary manner. It also works directly with customers to insure they are receiving high quality, freshly prepared products.

Duties & Responsibilities

Cold Food Production

  • Prepares all salads items and fresh fruit as scheduled
  • Prepares all the condiments and salad dressing for the cold table in service areas
  • Follows large quantity recipes and scales recipes up or down as needed
  • Prepares food in batches to meet deadlines and to avoid overproduction
  • Follows and completes production sheets and service summaries

Follows all safety, sanitation, and HACCP policies and procedures

  • Accurately completes temperature logs
  • Responsible for maintaining high standard of cleanliness and sanitation in the production and storage of food
  • Oversees proper rotation of all prepped items, also making sure that they are disposed of correctly with Lean Path as necessary
  • Oversees product rotation in assigned areas

Directly serves the students in a variety of venues including display cooking

  • Serves on the serving line
  • Does display cooking on the lines and/or salad bar

Supervises and directs staff/students

  • Assigns Full time, part time and student staff to specific positions and responsibilities/training
  • Leads & assigns staff on specific tasks with a timeline for completion
  • Check fulltime, part time and student staff for proper attire

Completion of Food Pro and other paperwork

  • Does /assigns Food Pro Service Summaries at conclusion of meals
  • Completes all paperwork for catered events

Required Competencies

  • Time management, planning and organizational skills
  • Has the ability to multitask in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to stand on feet 3-4 hours and move 45-50 lbs as necessary
  • Ability to read and comprehend reports and basic math skills to complete reports
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Is customer and student orientated
  • Ability to motivate and supervise others
  • Works well with college age students
  • Self-managed
  • Have an optimistic attitude, high degree of integrity, and a strong work ethic

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience with reading, following, and comprehending basic recipes and other written materials used daily.
  • Experience using materials and equipment used in the food industry
  • One year leadership and supervisory experience
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • ServSafe certified.
  • Has large quantity food production experience
  • One year of food service preparation experience
