Salary/Position Classification

  • $48,700+ annual, Exempt
  • 40 hours per week
  • This position will work onsite the Grand Forks, ND campus.

Purpose of Position

This position provides technical support and maintenance of Linux and Windows client computing systems in research, instructional, and operational environments. The position supports faculty, staff, researchers, and students by ensuring client systems, peripherals, and specialized software are operational and properly configured and maintained in accordance with institutional and State of North Dakota IT standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

  •  Client Computing Support:
    • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux client operating systems.
    • Diagnose and resolve hardware, operating system, and application issues.
    • Support client applications within all departments at the Odegard School.
  •  Instructional, Research, & Operational Support:
    • Provide technical support for classrooms, laboratories, simulations, and research environments.
    • Assist with field-deployed systems supporting UAS and atmospheric research.
    • Support peripherals such as sensors, controllers, GPS units, and data acquisition equipment. 
  •  Security, Compliance, & Maintenance:
    • Apply system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
    • Assist with endpoint security controls and account access.
    • Follow NDUS and State of North Dakota IT policies. 
  •  Documentation & Customer Service:
    • Document system configurations, procedures, and incident resolutions.
    • Assist with IT asset inventory and tracking.
    • Provide professional customer service and escalate issues as needed.

Required Competencies

  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly to changing technologies and customer needs.

  • Basic understanding of networking concepts.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in computer science, information technology, engineering or related field; or an Associate degree and three years of directly related work experience.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows client operating systems.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in aviation, UAS, scientific, or research environments.
  • Experience with specialized instructional or research software.
