Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position. Unsolicited applications to this position will NOT be considered.

The UND Insider is offering employment opportunities for students wishing to gain practical experience in the communications and sports management industry. UND Insider oversees all aspects of UND athletics video production and distribution, FightingHawks.com, features and highlight packages, and assist with live game TV productions. Student Interns report to Dominic Taylor, Director of Video Content.

For over five years, UND Insider has produced 70+ basketball and volleyball games regionally on Bally Sports North, formerly known as Fox Sports North and Fox College Sports, along with day-to-day content that comes out of the athletics department.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Live Game Production:
    • Student interns will receive a comprehensive education on the behind-the-scenes process of producing live sporting events at the University of North Dakota, including: Soccer, Softball, Basketball, Volleyball, and Hockey.
    • Games are produced for Midco Sports and other conference streaming platforms. Games are also produced for in-venue video boards to enhance the fan experience.
  • Live Game Roles:
    • Student employees take the following roles in a live game day control room:
      • Producer (oversees broadcast)
      • Director (oversees technical production)
      • Graphic Operator (maintain scoreboard, lower thirds)
      • Instant Replay Operator
      • Camera Operator
      • On-Air Talent (play-by-play, color analyst, and/or sideline reporter)
  • Video Content Production:
    • UND athletics' website FightingHawks.com houses all creative content produced by UND Insider.
    • Content and experiences interns will learn:
      • How to capture, create, and edit video
      • Game Highlights
      • Hype Videos
      • Feature Videos
      • Press Conferences
      • Reporter/Interviewing Skills
    • Work in a collaborative environment.
    • Communicate well with full-time staff and other student staff members

Minimum Requirements

  • Video production experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Willingness to learn new things
  • Successful completion of a Standard Criminal History Background Check
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 1 credit during the employed academic semester
