Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Information Services 
    • Maintain a welcoming and approachable environment for users of the Memorial Union, by providing superior customer service to guests in person, through email, and through the multiline phone. 
    • Maintain knowledge of campus services and resources, as the Memorial Union Information Desk serves as one of the primary campus hubs to provide UND and community event information, campus directory information, campus maps and building location information. - (Essential)
  • Event Scheduling 
    • Maintain knowledge of event and reservation policies. 
    • Utilize a computerized event management system to view events and run daily reports. 
    • Work closely with MU Building Managers during evenings and weekends to provide frontline troubleshooting for event planning challenges or late equipment requests as needed. - (Essential)
  • General
    • Coordinate games equipment checkout. 
    • Work closely with supervisor for lost and found processes. 
    • Support Memorial Union building emergency response processes. 
    • Collaboration to troubleshoot procedures involved with a new workspace. 
    • Miscellaneous projects as assigned. - (Essential)

Minimum Requirements

  • Enrolled at the University of North Dakota
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including both evenings and rotating weekends.
  • Ability to attend all mandatory Memorial Union staff training and meetings.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Willingness to ask questions.
  • Excellent written and language skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups.
  • Ability to adapt to changing procedures and technologies.
  • Computer skills focused on Internet navigation and data entry.
  • Ability to problem solve creatively and effectively.
  • Ability to manage time and projects well.
  • Successful completion of a criminal history records check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • General knowledge of UND campus buildings, services, and website resources.
  • General phone skills.
  • Knowledge of general office equipment.
