Salary/Position Classification

  • $14.00 hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)

Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

Duties & Responsibilities

This position is located at the Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC), an international leader in energy and environmental research and a nonprofit branch of the University of North Dakota (UND). We are looking for an Energy Policy & Regulatory Assistant to work 10-15 hours during the Fall and Spring semesters. There may be an opportunity to continue during the summer. The Research Assistant will support research efforts through tasks such as:

  • Performing a variety of tasks to support technical or scientific analyses and report production
  • Preparing basic calculations
  • Collecting, organizing, and evaluating data
  • Completing literature reviews
  • Developing briefings on regulatory, policy, law and legislation changes as they relate to the energy industry

Required Competencies

  • Ability to work independently and part of a team
  • Interest in learning about and conducting research
  • Highly motivated and dependable

Minimum Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Political Science or Economics
  • Experience with MS Office Suite
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working as legislative staff or on the staff of federal delegation.
  • Familiarity with energy policy
  • Currently taking or have taken courses in political science, economics and/or related to agriculture or energy.
