Salary/Position Classification

  • $42,000 - $44,300 annual, Exempt

Purpose of Position

To purpose of the Director of Operations - Women's Volleyball position is to direct the day-to-day operations for the UND women's volleyball program. These tasks include, but are not limited to, arranging all regular season & postseason team travel, practice and game day duties, including keeping statistics for data analysis, serving as summer camp director, developing a competitive game schedule under the direction of the Head Coach, overseeing travel and equipment budget, serving as a liaison with REA/BESC staff concerning team and visiting team practice and game scheduling, and serving as a liaison with the ticket office and compliance office as well as the business office. Must have a commitment to compliance with all NCAA Rules and Regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee all administrative aspects of the women's volleyball program.
  • Arrange & manage all aspects of team travel to include: Lodging accommodations, buses, rental vans/vehicles, commercial and/or charter flights, meals, itineraries, handling of all money and completing post-trip expense reconciliations & reports.
  • Coordinate complimentary tickets for players and coaches for all home & away games.
  • Prepare & submit all team travel forms and advances to UND Athletics Business Office.
  • Renew coaching memberships, as applicable.
  • Organize professional development and meetings trips for all coaches and staff (hotels, flights, tickets, etc.).
  • Coordinate end of the season banquet, which includes working with UND Alumni Association & Foundation, sending out invites, ordering of awards, & arranging catering.
  • Assist all members of the coaching staff in all aspects of the program.
  • Follow all NCAA, conference, and UND rules & regulations. 
  • Keep statistics during practice & games for use in Data Volley and/or Volleymetrics.
  • Provide scouting reports of current and future opponents, using data analysis & skill assessment.
  • Participate and assist in all on campus recruiting.
  • Participate in off-campus recruiting, as assigned by Head Coach.
  • Assist coaching staff in the instruction specific to volleyball team, that includes teaching proper skills & techniques, basic physical health concepts, team and individual leadership concepts/skills, general safety instruction.
  • Provide instruction related to specific position groups, if applicable & as assigned by Head Coach.
  • Communicate with league, athletics administration, and conference on conference game schedules each year. 
  • Serve as the facilities liaison between the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center (BESC), Fritz Pollard Athletic Center, and the University Wellness Center.
  • Responsible for the master calendar throughout the year, organizing practice times with other sports at UND and facilities.
  • Keep track of practice hours, including individual workouts, strength & conditioning sessions, and team practice hours.
  • Complete and submit any necessary compliance forms including, but not limited to, occasional meal forms, community service hours, & other compliance related issues.
  • Coordinate a master class schedule of all student-athletes.
  • Oversee coordination of academic study table for each academic semester.
  • Responsible for scheduling practices and gym time for home and away teams.
  • Develop and oversee equipment and operational budget.
  • Assist with all equipment purchases and other expenses.
  • Manage temporary and/or student employees, if applicable.
  • Serve as primary point of contact with representatives of exclusive apparel & equipment contracts (i.e. Adidas).
  • Monitor all volleyball staff on the timely & accurate completion of all University Purchasing Card statements. 
  • Plan, develop, and coordinate all aspects of UND Volleyball Camps and Clinics.
  • Proactively work with all applicable facilities to set up all camp schedules.
  • Complete and/or verify data entry for all camper registrations through current camp software (i.e. SideArm).
  • Work with UND Athletics Compliance & Business offices in the preparation & completion of all paperwork for workers and independent contractors.
  • Ensure all workers are hired in a timely fashion and have passed a criminal history background check (CHBC).

Required Competencies

  • Must have effective professional working relationship with student-athletes, staff, administration, alumni, and general public.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and computer skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize.
  • Ability to teach and work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Must have commitment to NCAA compliance and follow all NCAA, conference and UND rules and regulations.
  • Must have commitment to academic success of student-athletes.
  • Must provide support and encouragement and ensure the safety and well-being of the student athletes.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience working at collegiate volleyball camps.
  • 1 year of collegiate volleyball working experience as an employee or graduate assistant.
  • Experience with NCAA Rules & Regulations.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Successful completion of criminal history background check (CHBC).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Volleymetrics and/or Data Volley.
  • Collegiate volleyball playing experience.
  • Experience with data processing of volleyball statistics.
  • Experience working with collegiate volleyball at the NCAA Division I level.
  • Experience with hiring and supervision of students and/or camp personnel.
  • Experience coordinating with visiting/road teams for scheduling and access to facility/court.
