Purpose of Position

The Business Incubator Data Analytics Intern will support the assessment and monitoring of program effectiveness across our innovation focused initiatives. This role is ideal for a student interested in data-driven decision-making, program evaluation, and economic or entrepreneurial development. The intern will work closely with incubator leadership to transform program data into actionable insights that strengthen services for startups and stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Program Measurement & Evaluation
    • Assist in developing and refining key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate incubator programs (e.g., startup progress, membership programs, acceleration programs, etc.).
    • Identify data collection mechanisms and organize data from multiple sources such as program applications, surveys, CRM systems, and financial or operational reports.
    • Create recommendations for data collection across software platforms or align within a single platform based on organization work flows.
    • Support longitudinal tracking of cohort and client outcomes (e.g., revenue growth, job creation, capital raised). 
  • Data Analysis & Visualization
    • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement.
    • Create dashboards, charts, and summary reports for internal use and external stakeholders.
    • Work with staff to translate complex data into clear narratives and insights for non-technical audiences.
    • Identify opportunities to improve data collection methods and evaluation processes.
  • Reporting & Stakeholder Support
    • Prepare recurring report templates for leadership, funders, and partners that demonstrate program impact and effectiveness.
    • Document data definitions and reporting processes to improve consistency and institutional knowledge. 

Required Competencies

  • Demonstrated interest in data analysis, business analytics, program evaluation, or entrepreneurship.
  • Familiarity with spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate findings clearly in writing and verbally.

Minimum Requirements

  • Demonstrated interest in data analysis, business analytics, program evaluation, or entrepreneurship.
  • Familiarity with spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets).
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
