  • $15.00 hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
  • 10-20 hours per week

Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Setting up and installing microphones, lights, video monitors, projectors, speakers, and video cameras - (Essential)
  • Meeting with Event Coordinators to discuss audio, lighting, and video requirements. - (Essential)
  • Altering venue arrangements according to layout diagrams. - (Essential)
  • Laying electrical and sound cables. - (Essential)
  • Conducting sound, visual, and performance quality checks on AV equipment. - (Essential)
  • Inspecting mountings and electrical equipment to ensure they conform to health and safety regulations. - (Essential)
  • Operating sound and visual equipment during live events. - (Essential)
  • Troubleshooting equipment and ensuring events run smoothly. - (Essential)
  • Disassembling audio and visual equipment and packing up after the event. - (Essential)
  • Monitor events. - (Essential)
  • Execute emergency procedures (such as building evacuations or medical emergencies). - (Essential)

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including both evenings and rotating weekends.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
  • Requires constant interaction with members of the university community and the general public.
  • Requires tone of firm-friendliness to enforce the rules and mission of the department and work efficiently and effectively with patrons and building staff.
  • Ability to conduct self in a manner that brings credit to the Memorial Union operations and the university.
  • Ability to attend all mandatory Audio/Visual Assistant staff training and meetings.
  • Ability to carry/move equipment/furniture/etc.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Willingness to ask questions.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups.
  • Ability to adapt to changing procedures and technologies.
  • Ability to problem solve creatively and effectively.
  • Ability to manage time and projects well.
