      Salary/Position Classification

      • $50,000 - $60,000 annual, Exempt

      Purpose of Position

      The purpose of the Assistant Coach - Women's Volleyball position is to assist the Head Volleyball Coach with all aspects of a Division I program. This position provides comprehensive assistance to the Athletics Department in the area of providing comprehensive instruction to the volleyball team. This position will provide instruction to the team that includes teaching proper skills and techniques, teaching basic physical health concepts to include nutritional education, teaching team and individual leadership concepts/skills as well as providing general safety instruction. Must have a commitment to compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations. Must provide support and encouragement and ensure the safety and well-being of the student-athletes.

      Duties & Responsibilities

      • Provide Instruction Specific to the Volleyball Team
        • Provide instruction related to team and leadership concepts/skills specific to assigned player groups and individuals.
        • Provide general safety instruction for all activities in which the team and/or individuals participate. Specifically instruct student-athletes on safe training and exercise techniques.
        • Provide support and encouragement to promote the mental well-being of the student-athletes.
        • Serve as a role model and demonstrate a professional working relationship with student-athletes.
        • Assist/run practices under the direction of the Head Coach.
        • Assist strength coach for weight-lifting and conditioning practices, as needed.
        • Provide support and encouragement and ensure the safety of the student-athletes.
        • Design instructional/training in-season/off-season specific to assigned player groups and individuals.
        • Teach basic physical health concepts (to include nutritional education) specific to assigned player groups and individuals.
        • Assist with all facets of coaching at all UND games and practices.
        • Follow all NCAA, conference, UND rules and regulations. 
      • Recruit and evaluate prospective student athletes/team travel/scouting
        • Recruit quality prospective student-athletes for the sport program.
        • Handle day-to-day correspondence with prospective student-athletes, as assigned.
        • Handle weekly telephone calls, as assigned.
        • Coordinate official and unofficial campus visits, as assigned.
        • Handle documentation for each prospective student athlete in accordance with NCAA and UND Athletics Department compliance protocols/rules.
        • Assist with team travel and/or scouting as assigned.
        • Assist with statistics at all UND games and practices.
        • Follow all NCAA, conference, and UND rules and regulations.
        • Other recruiting duties as assigned by Head Coach.
      • Social media/public relations/fundraising
        • Assist with social media for volleyball program, when applicable.
        • Develop community support for the program and participate in Athletics department & fundraising activities, as assigned.
        • Serve as a role model and demonstrate a professional working relationship with student-athletes, staff, administration, alumni, and general public.
        • Assist with maintaining contact with volleyball alumni and boosters, as assigned.
        • Follow all NCAA, conference, and UND rules and regulations.
        • Other fundraising duties as assigned by Head Coach. 
      • Other duties
        • Assist with all aspects of volleyball camps/clinics, as assigned.
        • Follow all university hiring procedures, as assigned.
        • Prepare Job Data Hire forms & monitor/approve all timesheets, if applicable.

      Required Competencies

      • Must have effective professional working relationship with student-athletes, staff, administration, alumni, and general public.
      • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and computer skills.
      • Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize.
      • Ability to teach and work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
      • Must have commitment to NCAA compliance and follow all NCAA, conference and UND rules and regulations.
      • Must have commitment to academic success of student-athletes.
      • Must provide support and encouragement and ensure the safety and well-being of the student athletes, including having a valid Driver’s License.

      Minimum Requirements

      • Bachelor’s degree.
      • 2 years of volleyball coaching experience at the collegiate or professional level.
      • 2 years of volleyball recruiting experience at the collegiate or professional level.
      • Valid Driver’s License.
      • Successful completion of criminal history background check.

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Master’s Degree.
      • 3 or more years of collegiate coaching experience at the NCAA Division I level.
      • 3 or more years of collegiate volleyball recruiting experience at the NCAA Division I level.
      • Volleyball playing experience at the collegiate level.
      • Experience with scouting, film, and processing data.
      • Experience with VolleyMetrics and/or Data Volley.
